“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” – Colossians 3:12
So we’ve chosen three key words to focus on for the month of August.
Patience, gentleness and grace.
Patience, gentleness and grace.
In fact, it might be wise to take these three words and form them into a bit of a mantra for August. Saying them slowly, over and over again as part of our daily meditation may help us focus on the need for these virtues this month.
These ‘dog days of summer’ can be very hot and tiring. August is that month where we realize July has blown by and September is just around the corner. We start to get a little anxious about all of the planning needed for the fall. It is easy in the midst of all of that to have a shorter fuse than usual when it comes to patience, gentleness and grace.
It might be beneficial to be slightly more intentional than usual about self-care this month. It may be a good idea to focus on ‘the now’ and not the future. Being ‘in the moment’ may prove helpful when it comes to being more patient and gentle and graceful this month.
Let’s all take a deep breath this month and regularly say as a mantra, “patience, gentleness and grace”. I believe this could go a long way towards helping us as we strive to be ‘the hand of God is the heart of the city’.
With Grace,
Dion
