When I think of patience, gentleness and grace I think of the onboarding of new employees.
In many ways, we can be a transforming influence to those who have chosen to work at The Salvation Army by starting with patience, gentleness and grace.
We are beginning to see five generations working in our ministry units, all of whom have different expectations, visions and aspirations. Each generation comes with different needs which requires a great deal of patience; how we coach and mentor requires gentleness in order to bring out excellence for each individual, and grace is required to allow space for people to make mistakes so they can grow and learn how to give the best possible care to the most vulnerable people in our society, those facing homelessness.
When our days, our weeks, and our work as a whole start and end with patience, gentleness and grace we can see positive evidence in how effective we are, how smoothly we work, and how happy our staff are.
Try it for yourself today:
Start today with a deep breath, and the words, ‘patience, gentleness and grace‘.
And end today with a deep breath, and the words, ‘patience, gentleness and grace‘.
With patience, gentleness and grace as our starting ground, let’s keep striving to be ‘the hand of God is the heart of the city’.
With Grace,

Patience, gentleness, and grace.
Patience, gentleness, and grace.
Patience, gentleness, and grace.
Lord God,
Give me I pray,
With myself as well as with others,
Patience, gentleness, and grace.
Patience, gentleness, and grace.
Amen
